“And wherever he went he healed people of every sort of illness….” John 10:35b
Community Development is based on the concept that Christians should take the lead in investing in the health and well-being of their community. Community Development focuses on supporting established churches in evangelism and discipleship using Community Health Evangelism (CHE) as the main tool. Ethiopian Master Trainers are used to train volunteer CHE Ambassadors to reach their villages and neighbors. Communities across southern Ethiopia are strengthened physically, socially, spiritually, emotionally, and economically through practical application of key topics that support well-being. Currently, our partnership in the Gedeo region is reaching 350 villages and a population of 550,000. This project has resulted in a decrease in infant mortality and malnutrition. It has also resulted in over 30,000 new believers and the planting of over 300 new churches. That partnership will reach approximately 600 villages and over 1 million people in the next two years. In the Wolaitta region, a new project will reach 1,500 villages and over 2.5 million Ethiopians with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the transformational practices taught with the CHE tool.
