Ethiopia is a country in desperate need of health services. Life expectancy at birth is 49 years. Infant mortality is greater than one in ten. The cases affecting the majority of the population are not significant acute illnesses. On the contrary, most illnesses and diseases are treatable and controllable.

It is the goal of New Covenant Foundation to create a health services delivery model that will affect the lives of thousands. The model will include a system of health services, which are both stationary and mobile. In order to create long lasting beneficial services, the needs of all people must be met, not just those that can walk the distance to a stationary medical facility.

New Covenant Foundation is working with LifeWind International through its CHE Model (Community Health Evangelism). This CHE program is currently the largest undertaken by LifeWind in the more than 70 countries it is working in. It has also been the most successful and is on target to meet the goal of reaching 400,000 people in Ethiopia's Southern zone.
