Werku Golle
"Werku Golle, champion for God and for the Ethiopian people"
Werku Golle has only one desire: to see Ethiopian people believe in Jesus. His love for Jesus and the people of Ethiopia is literally legendary. And though it has come at a great cost to himself, he has never counted that cost. A verse in Paul’s letter to the Philippians describes Werku’s mindset: "What is more, I consider everthing a loss compared to the supassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him ..." Phillipians 3:8-9a.
Werku was born September 1950 in Dilla, Ethiopia where he attained his elementary and high school education. His collegian studies were at Ethiopia Theological Institute. Werku furthered his education in Management and Development through courses in the USA, England, New Zealand, South Korea, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Kenya.
He has also studied World Missions in South Korea and England; and a Holy Land Studies in Israel. He has been the director of the evangelism ministries development program for Gedeo Zone Kale Heywot Church for the past 28 years. The Gedeo Zone KHC church actively supports evangelists, rural agricultural programs, child care programs, HIV and health programs, provision of safe and adequate water, women's training, and school construction.
For over four years, Werku has been a founder and director of the Kale Heywot Church Ministry Training College. This college, in Dilla is a national ministry training college for all KHC Ethiopia. Werku serves as a committee member of Ethiopian Kale Heywot Church Development Program, and presently is the Chairman of United Kale Heywot Churches Fellowship of Gedeo/Borena Zones, and Chairman of Southern Ethiopian Regional Kale Heywot Church Fellowship. Because of his strong church leadership and religious influence within the Gedeo Region, Werku was imprisoned for over 13 months during the former communist regime. His love for the Lord and his people was not discouraged, only more burdened in the quest for an improved quality of life for his people.
Werku is married to the bride of his youth, Hallelujah; they have 8 children, 3 sons and 5 daughters.
